Dabke & Life Skills
Regular training in traditional dabke, paired with life skills: self-confidence, teamwork and discipline. The Wa'ad Folk Arts Troupe grew out of this program.
Wa'ad is a non-profit youth cultural volunteer association. We open spaces for learning, art and community work, in an environment that respects diversity and difference.
Wa'ad started in 2012 in Jabal Al-Lweibdeh, Amman, and is registered with the Ministry of Culture. We work with children and young people from across Amman, and we see heritage, art and learning as a way to build confidence, belonging and skills.
Our work rests on volunteers: trainers, teachers, artists, and young people who once took part in our programs themselves.
Wa'ad started in Jabal Al-Lweibdeh, Amman, with a group of young volunteers and one idea: a safe space where children and young people can learn and create.
The initiative grew into regular programs: Learning Together, the Reading & Storytelling Club, and the Summer Club.
Our Dabke & Life Skills program gave rise to the Wa'ad troupe, which carries heritage onto the stage.
Today we work from two community spaces in Amman, and we are preparing our show On This Land for December 2026.
Programs that bring together heritage, learning and play, led by volunteers for children and young people.

Our education program for children: study support and learning activities in a safe, encouraging setting, with young volunteers alongside them.

Reading and storytelling sessions that bring children closer to books and grow their imagination, language and curiosity.

Summer activities that mix art, sport, learning and play, organised with Wa'ad volunteers.

A dance performance in sixteen tableaux that follows a journey from exile back to the land. Its story and costumes are drawn from the performers' own lives, and school students help paint its backdrop.
